Boxer, George Liddard, 23, has made big contributions to support to Scarf New Forest, a charity based in the New Forest that supports children with additional needs as well as their families.

They offer these children term time clubs and holiday activities in an inclusive and welcoming environment where they can take part in a wide range of different activities.

In August 2025, the current British and Commonwealth Middleweight Champion made an appearance, alongside Bournemouth’s Chris Billam-Smith at a fundraiser at Bashley Football Club, which helped raise over £4,000.

Liddard has a strong connection with Bashley, he told BUzz, “I grew up in the area in summer holidays, I started going there most summers,

“To tell the truth, we used to sneak on to Bashley’s football pitch, we used to jump over the fence and play football on the pitch and nowadays I get invited to the ground, so times have changed a little bit.”

Liddard spoke about the motivation behind supporting Scarf New Forest, he said, “Scarfs are doing good things down in that area, so when I got asked about coming on board and helping raise some money for them, obviously it was something I'd like to do.

“We had a great evening with Chris Billam-Smith and you know, it was good to meet some of the people that Scarfs are helping and to give back to the community.

“I spent a lot of time, like I said, down there in my childhood, so it was good to help give back.”

The charity night included a Q&A with Liddard and Billam-Smith, a raffle, an auction as well as food and drink.

Originally, Liddard is from Billericay, Essex, however he is still making an effort to be connected with the people of Bashley, Liddard said, “These are the people that are, buying tickets to watch me fight.

“So, you know, each and every one of them, I appreciate, they go out, earn their money, and they spend it on coming to watch me fight. They spend money on hotels, on transport, on buying tickets.

“So it's important to give back to the community and to the people that are helping support my dreams coming true. So I try to do as much as I can.”

Liddard regularly makes appearances at Bashley matches, he spoke about the ways in which Bashley have supported him both professionally and personally, “They bring down like a coach-load of people every time I fight,

“This time I imagine it would be no different, obviously, I haven't got the date announced yet, but once it is, they’ll be straight on to me and bring down a coach-load of people to come support me.

“Not just that, but through social media, they're always sharing me, sharing when I got fights coming up, they've been nothing but supportive.

Obviously, it was nice to help give back to them with that charity event that we did, and yeah, I just like being down there.”

Liddard is coming off the back of the biggest win in his career thus far, becoming the youngest British and Commonwealth Middleweight Champion after stopping Kieron Conway in the 10th round in October 2025.

This was Liddard’s first headline fight, as him and Conway topped the bill at York Hall under Matchroom Boxing, who Liddard is signed with.

There has not been an announcement yet as to when Liddard will next be in action, however he does have every intention of continuing his contributions to Bashley and the surrounding area, he said, “I'll definitely be popping down to a couple of games, I'd imagine, this season at some point,

“And I've been speaking with Bashley about something we can do to help raise some more money for some more local charities.

“So, yeah, hopefully get that across the line and we can do a couple more bits for some charities this year.”

Liddard currently remains undefeated with a professional record of 13-0 and will look to defend his British and Commonwealth titles this year.

Bashley are not the only team who back Liddard, as his beloved local team West Ham United are also strongly affiliated with the Billericay man and have done a lot of promotional work for him.

As for Bashley, they currently sit in 21st place in Southern League Division One South league table, with their next league game coming up on the 7th of February as they travel to Bishops Cleeve.

The Stags will be looking to get a result on the road and start working towards an escape out of the relegation zone, where they currently sit.

Either way, it is safe to say that we can expect both Bashley and Liddard to continue to support each other and do even more great work in the community for local charities and great causes.
